Sileby Cemetery Update

As we continue to make long term improvements to the Cemetery, we have identified 3 small maple trees that have self set, and are now threatening to cause damage to the main roadway. If they are left to grow they will spread over the road, with the possibility of damaging vehicles, and also their roots will lift and damage the road surface. It also has to be noted that maple trees, especially here in the East Midlands, carry a virus which causes a black spot on their leaves, although it's not deadly, it does make the trees unsightly.

To compensate for the removal of these trees we will be planting more native trees in the hedgerow that will be planted where the conifers have been removed. As mentioned at the start of this article, these changes are long term improvements, as with anything in nature, it takes time for the benefits to be fully appreciated , so please be patient and give Mother Nature and us mere mortals time to work together to create an environment that works for us all.
