Police & Crime Commissioner Visit
We welcomed Police & Crime Commissioner Rupert Matthews to our recent Parish Council meeting. Mr Matthews gave an update of issues the Police have been dealing with within the village.
• Drug dealing at Sileby Memorial Park – regular patrols are being carried out at the park to deter drug dealing and is having a positive impact.
• Burglary patrols – when the clocks go back there can be an increase in burglaries. To combat these additional patrols are being carried out.
• Speeding – speed checks have been carried out on Barrow Road and Seagrave Road and further checks will be carried out in due course.
• Illegal and dangerous use of E Scooters and E Bikes – this has been flagged to the police as an increasing issue. A review is being carried out in the Spring and Mr Matthews stated that in order for Sileby to be flagged as a E Scooter and E Bike 'hotspot' all incidents need to be reported to the police.
• We were reminded that the new Government has promised funding for extra Police Officers and PCSOs.
Mr Matthews reiterated the importance of reporting every single instance of crime and anti-social behaviour. Only by doing this can we hope to be allocated the resources needed to ensure that our village remains a safe place to live and work.
