Project Park! - COMING SOON – INCREDIBLE EDIBLE SILEBY!
If you enjoy gardening and want to get involved in something that benefits our community in Sileby, a new community group Incredible Edible Sileby could be just the ticket!
As part of the government-funded upgrade to Sileby Memorial Park, the Parish Council has provided a space for a community garden in the corner of the park near the pavilion. Once the landscaping is completed and raised beds installed, Incredible Edible Sileby will aim to:
• Create and cultivate an open community garden
• Encourage and support residents to volunteer to help grow fruit and vegetables in the garden.
• Make the produce from the garden available for residents of Sileby to harvest when in season.
Members of our community who don't always find buying fresh fruit and veg affordable will directly benefit from the Incredible Edible garden. Residents who maybe don't have their own garden, or just enjoy being out in the fresh air doing something useful, will also benefit.
If you're interested in volunteering to help with this great initiative, please email the Group here: silebycommunitygarden@proton.me
The next meeting of the Incredible Edible Sileby interim committee is on:
Friday 13th December at 1.30pm at Sileby Methodist Church Centre, King Street
Anyone interested in volunteering to helping in the community garden will be very welcome to come along. Committee members will be hearing from one of the coordinators of the Incredible Edible Loughborough Group. He will talk about the fantastic community gardens they have created across the town, and how they did it!
